Description

Hemoglobin A1C HbA1C Glycosylated hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) levels are used as an indicator of blood glucose in diabetic patients. It is formed by the conjugation of a hexose sugar to the beta-chain of hemoglobin A. HbA1c builds up in red blood cells throughout their lifetime and its levels therefore represent a record of blood glucose levels over the previous 8 weeks or so. The hemoglobin A1c subunit has a molecular weight of 18kDa.
