The Exablate Body system enables physicians to perform incisionless procedures using MR-guided Focused Ultrasound (MRgFUS). The combination of high intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) with MRI guidance enables both accurate targeting of tissue, as well as real-time, thermal monitoring of the treatment effect.
When high intensity focused ultrasound waves converge, they heat and ablate targeted tissue inside the body, without making any incisions. MR imaging provides high resolution anatomical imaging for patient-specific treatment planning, as well as real-time temperature monitoring of the target and adjacent tissue.
The Exablate Body platform is used to treat locally-confined prostate cancer, symptomatic uterine fibroids and pain palliation of bone metastases.
