Nebulizer is a device used to administer medication to people in forms of a liquid mist to the airways. It is thus used in treating respiratory diseases.Classic nebulizers(piston or diaphram type), also called "atomizers", pump air through a liquid medicine to turn it into a vapor, which is then inhaled by the patient. These medicines are frequently steroids, and the reason they are inhaled instead of digested is to limit their effect to the lungs/respiratory system only. Otherwise, that amount of steroid saturated throughout the body would be toxic.
Hikoneb® Ultrasonic Nebulizers work with ultrasound. Hikoneb® Ultrasonic Nebulizers are not atomizers, they do not use pump air to atomize the medicine. Ultrasound is an energy source for nebulization of liquids for inhalation therapy. The working mechanism involves ultrasound waves to touch to the surface of the liquid(e.g. medicine, water) and merge the liquid into micron size subparticles. By this method, aerosol therapy efficiency increases, because of the even distribution of the particle sizes.Ultrasonic nebulizers can also be used for the humidification of the room, to make patients breathe easier.
