Description

FSH EIA Test Kit An enzyme immunoassay (EIA) for the quantitative detection of FSH (Follicle-Stimulating Hormone) in human serum. The FSH EIA Test Kit is an enzyme immunoassay for in vitro quantitative determination of FSH level in human serum. FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) is a glycoprotein of approximately 30,000 daltons which, like luteinizing hormone (LH), human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), consists of two noncovalently associated subunits designated a and ß. The a subunit of FSH contains 92 amino acids and is very similar to the a subunits of LH, hCG, and TSH. The ß subunit is unique. 1 The ß subunit confers the biological activity to the molecule. Stimulation by gonadotropinreleasing hormone causes release of FSH, as well as LH, from the pituitary and is transported by the blood to their sites of action, the testes or ovary. The clinical usefulness of the measurement of Follicle Stimulating hormone (FSH) in ascertaining the homeostasis of fertility regulation via the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis has been well established. 2 The determination of FSH together with LH is indicated for the following: congenital diseases with chromosome aberrations, amenorrhea (causes), polycystic ovaries (PCO) and menopausal syndrome. Depressed gonadotropin levels in men occur in azoospermia. 3,4 The FSH EIA Test Kit is an immunoassay for the quantitative detection of the presence of FSH in human serum specimen. The test utilizes monoclonal antibodies to selectively detect FSH in human serum.
