Pertussis, also known as whooping cough, can cause life-threatening complications among infants and small children, leading to an estimated 195,000 deaths annually around the world.1 Pertussis is a contagious bacterial disease that can be difficult to distinguish from other upper respiratory infections. The real-time PCR ARIES® Bordetella Assay detects Bordetella pertussis and Bordetella parapertussis DNA from nasopharyngeal swab specimens using the sample-to-answer ARIES® System, providing important diagnostic results in less than two hours. The assay is CE Marked and FDA Cleared for IVD use. Performance of the ARIES® Bordetella Assay The performance of the moderate-complexity ARIES® Bordetella Assay was assessed at five geographically diverse clinical sites in the United States. Workflow The operator prepares the sample, adds it to the cassette, puts the cassette in the magazine, loads the magazine into the ARIES® System, and the run starts automatically. Step 1 Load the sample into the cassette. Step 2 Insert up to six cassettes into the magazine.
