The AFC is an air-cooled coil that provides a focal magnetic field and powerful temperature cooling for a variety of research applications. The AFC’s fan permits minimal down time between the running of high intensity protocols, such as high-frequency repetitive pulse protocols and theta burst stimulation (TBS). The AFC has recently been improved to increase its cooling performance whilst also reducing noise. A sham version is available for single and double-blinded research. The AFC Sham coil looks identical to its active version, replicates stimulation sounds, and delivers a very shallow magnetic field to mimic the sensation of magnetic stimulation.
