What is the M-653? The Marsden M-653 is a Class III Approved wheelchair scale for weighing patients who are unable to stand. The large weighing platform can accommodate almost any wheelchair, and a single handrail provides support for those who wish to stand. For portability and storage, the handrail folds in when the scale is not in use. What is a Class III Approved scale? A Class III Approved medical scale has been built, tested, verified and calibrated to meet certain standards, determined by the NAWI directive. This Directive states that all scales ‘used in the determination of mass in the practice of medicine for the purpose of monitoring, diagnosis and medical treatment’ must be Class III Approved.
