Simulab's Perineal Repair Trainer for episiotomy and perineal repair is a soft-tissue model that provides a highly realistic and practical solution for training healthcare professionals in repairing first to 4th-degree perineal tears, labial lacerations, catheter insertion, episiotomy, and end-to-end or overlap repair. The trainer includes the vaginal, anal canals, urethra, rectovaginal fascia, external sphincter, internal sphincter, skin and muscle layers, and vaginal and rectal mucosa. The soft-tissue model allows for incisions or simulated tears along all sides of the vaginal canal, including midline, mediolateral, and lateral. The replaceable tissue allows for multiple cuts and repeatable realistic suturing of the mucosa, muscles, skin, and subcutaneous layers. The urethral canal allows for catheter insertion to repair simulated tears along the top of the vaginal canal near the urethral canal. The tray form overlays the tissue and provides tension that enhances the simulation. A bony anatomical landmark on the frame simulates the ischial spine allowing the user to perform a pudendal block. An adjustable distension rod adds tension to provide more realistic access to deeper tissues during 3rd and 4th-degree repairs.
