OverviewThe Nordlys® platform is a multi-application IPL and laser system for treatment of pigmentation, vascularity, skin resurfacing, and hair removal. It integrates Selective Waveband Technology (SWT) IPL, two non-ablative fractional lasers (1550 nm and 1940 nm), and an Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser. The Nordlys Mini is a stand-alone NAFL device featuring the 1550 nm and 1940 nm lasers for non-ablative resurfacing and benign pigmented lesion treatment.
Key Benefits- Offers multiple advanced technologies (IPL, NAFL, Nd:YAG) in one platform to expand practice capabilities.
- Usable across Fitzpatrick Skin Types I–VI depending on applicator.
- Delivers non-ablative fractional resurfacing with high ROI and minimal downtime.
- Enables personalized treatment plans with guided or expert user modes.
- Handpieces/applicators can be purchased over time to extend treatment options.
Technologies- SWT® IPL — Unique narrowband IPL using dual light filters and sub-millisecond pulses for vascular treatments, photorejuvenation, and hair removal; removes wavelengths above 950 nm for safety.
- 1550 nm NAFL — Non-ablative fractional laser for deeper skin resurfacing with integrated cooling (SoftCool™) to improve comfort; available on Nordlys and Nordlys Mini.
- 1940 nm NAFL — Epidermal non-ablative fractional laser for shallow resurfacing and treatment of benign pigmented lesions (epidermis and superficial dermis).
- Nd:YAG 1064 nm — Treats vascular lesions (leg vessels, telangiectasias, port wine stains), venous lakes, onychomycosis (clear nail), and benign cutaneous lesions such as warts.
Applications- Skin resurfacing (textural irregularities, acne scars, surgical scars, striae) — 1550 and 1940 nm
- Benign pigmented lesions (lentigines, sunspots, freckles) — 1940 nm and PL 400
- Photorejuvenation, diffuse redness, rosacea, telangiectasias — PR 530 / PRS 530 / VL 555 / VLS 555 (SWT IPL)
- Permanent hair reduction — HR 600 / HRL 600 / HRD 645 (IPL handpieces)
- Vascular lesions including leg vessels (0.1–3 mm), port wine stains, venous lakes — Nd:YAG 1064 nm
- Onychomycosis (clear nail) and warts — Nd:YAG 1064 nm
How it worksThe system delivers selective light pulses absorbed by target chromophores: melanin for hair removal and hemoglobin for vascular lesions. Absorbed light converts to heat, destroying target structures (hair follicles, blood vessels) while sparing surrounding tissue due to wavelength selection and fractional treatment patterns.
Nordlys Applicators and Options- SWT IPL applicators: narrowband IPL with water filtration to remove harmful wavelengths above 950 nm.
- 1550 nm applicator: deeper fractional resurfacing with SoftCool™ comfort cooling.
- 1940 nm applicator: superficial epidermal resurfacing and benign pigment lesion treatment.
- Nd:YAG 1064 applicator: available with multiple tips (circular, semi-circular, circular sapphire) to treat a variety of vascular lesions and anatomical access challenges; spot sizes adjustable via software-controlled zoom from 1.5–5.0 mm.
Performance and Features- Two user levels: Guided mode for quick learning and Expert mode for customized protocols.
- Adjustable arm to position screen and tray; flexible applicator cables to reduce strain; accessories tray for consumables.
- Whisper-quiet operation for patient comfort and clear view of treatment area.
- Wi‑Fi–enabled secure remote assistance for diagnostics, updates, and technical support; patient database to record treatment history.
Available Products in the Nordlys Line- Nordlys® — Multi-application device combining SWT IPL, 1550 nm and 1940 nm NAFLs, and Nd:YAG 1064 nm laser for a broad range of dermatologic and aesthetic treatments.
- Nordlys Mini™ — Non-ablative fractional laser device offering 1550 nm and 1940 nm applicators for resurfacing and benign pigmented lesions with minimal consumables and low downtime.
Treatment Results and EvidenceBefore-and-after images and clinical evidence are presented for pigmentation, vascular, and resurfacing indications. The platform holds regulatory clearances for multiple indications and includes user guidance and treatment presets developed over many years.
