OverviewThe VSI equine nasogastric model allows veterinary students to practice realistic and repeatable clinical techniques. It is mounted on a sturdy adjustable-height metal rolling stand with forward tilt and 90° rotation, facilitating transport and positioning for training. The model is compatible with the equine dystocia model.
Manufactured in durable silicone with an integrated metal frame, the model features a removable, washable, replaceable cover to ensure cleanliness and longevity. The head is detachable for easy transport and quick access to internal components. Detailed external anatomy allows use of a bit and bridle, includes flexible ears and realistic facial features for facial injection training.
The nasal passage faithfully reproduces anatomical structures and permits practice of passing a nasogastric tube through the esophagus into the stomach. A visual marker on the left side of the neck allows confirmation of tube positioning. An integrated smell and suction test helps verify correct placement of the tube in the gastric cavity.
Internal anatomy includes a mechanical venous pressure system delivering positive pressure, increasing realism for jugular venipuncture and blood sampling. The model is supplied with five durable, replaceable latex vein sets designed to withstand multiple punctures with 20–22 gauge needles. An intramuscular injection site is provided to support multiple punctures and realistically simulate fluid injections.
