What is a good lighting?
Proper lighting in dental room makes the work easier for the staff. You get better visual acuity and can perceive more minor details. It also prevents stress and eye fatigue.
To create the right lighting needs, the vet surgery lamp must give approx 20,000 lux around the animal’s mouth, and a surrounding lighting of 5000 lux. Larger variations than the lighting ratio of 1: 4 between the surgery lamp and the operating field may not occur.
If the operation lamp is the only light in the operating room staff’s eyes will soon be exhausted because the eyes have to constantly adapt to different lighting. Glare occurs when the staff directs the eye from the brightly lit oral cavity to the tray to take an instrument and back toward the mouth. The eyes can not adjust quickly enough to the bright light from the operatory.
