ACV External develops custom-made stents that are anatomically identical to the patient's trachea and bronchi. We offer solutions to patients whose complex anatomy makes standard stents unsuitable.
To create our custom 3D stents, we first perform a 3D reconstruction of the patient's airways using a CT scan. This virtual reconstruction is then used to design the prosthesis directly onto the stenosis. Once all measurements and checks are completed, the stent is 3D printed for verification. Afterward, we create a mold for manufacturing the stent using medical-grade silicone.
The surgeon can choose the degree of pressure resistance of our tracheobronchial implants.
Limitations of standard stents
Currently, standard stents are suitable for most patients. However, they cannot be used by all patients due to variations in size, diameter, and anatomical shape, as they do not conform to existing standard measurements and therefore may present a risk of migration.
Indications for tracheobronchial stents
Tracheal and/or bronchial stenosis results in breathing difficulties and requires specific management through stent placement. Stenosis can occur due to a variety of reasons, such as post-intubation problems, post-tracheostomy complications, post-lung transplant complications, and tissue diseases.
