Long-term implant to control sphincter function
Treatment of Fecal Incontinence in adults
Indication: Surgical treatment of chronic fecal incontinence after failed conservative treatment.
Long-term implant
The Soft Anal Band is a long-term subcutaneous implant to control the sphincter function for the treatment of fecal incontinence in adults.
The ring (anal band) is placed inside the surgically created circular pocket around the non-functioning anal sphincter.
The activator is a silicone balloon. By applying pressure to the skin above the activator the liquid flows into the cuff to fill the Anal Band.
The valve will be opened by applying pressure to the skin above. Fluid will flow from the cuff back to the activator to allow the artificial sphincter to empty. Defecation is possible.
The ring and the activator are available in two different sizes (M and L)
Benefits
Postoperative adjustment of the artificial anal sphincter is easy to accomplish.
Patients are able to activate the Soft Anal Band system independently without assistance by another person.
Soft Anal Band prevents episodes of incontinence without creating obstruction.
Soft Anal Band improves the patient´s Quality of Life (QoL).
Functioning principles of Soft Anal Band
Soft Anal Band for anal sphincter
The implant is based on a soft inflatable silicone band, which is placed around the anal sphincter and then closed to form a ring.
By filling this ring with saline solution, the inner diameter of the ring can be decreased to improve stool incontinence.
