Water tank hygiene is a constant concern for all leisure vehicles such as boats and motorhomes because these vehicles are usually only used for limited periods of time (often seasonally). One major cause of contamination is linked with the filling process because the cleanliness of the drinking water system depends primarily on the quality of the water to be stored. It was against this backdrop that, during a two-year cooperation with the German environmental foundation DBU, the use of filter systems when filling tanks was developed, tested and found to be successful. With its microscopic membrane, the AS Fill season filter ensures reliable retention of 99.99999% (7 log) of waterborne bacteria – and thus meets the specification for sterile water applied in medical facilities.
