Using the distortion product otoacoustic emission (DPOAE) or the transient-evoked otoacoustic emission (TEOAE) measurement method, the ATMOS OAE 31 tests the outer hair cells in the cochlea across a defined frequency range (550 Hz to 8000 Hz for DPOAE and 500 Hz to 6000 Hz for TEOAE).
