OverviewThe Volara System enables practical delivery of Oscillation and Lung Expansion (OLE) therapy across acute care settings and for continuation at discharge. It combines Continuous Positive Expiratory Pressure (CPEP), Continuous High-Frequency Oscillation (CHFO) pulses, and integrated nebulized medication to support lung expansion, airway clearance and secretion mobilization.
3-in-1 Therapy- CPEP: Continuous positive expiratory pressure combines sustained positive pressure with aerosol delivery to help expand and stent airways, preventing or treating atelectasis.
- CHFO: Continuous high-frequency oscillation applies rapid pulsatile positive pressure alongside aerosol therapy to mobilize retained secretions and facilitate expectoration.
- Nebulizer: Integrated aerosol delivery during therapy provides bronchodilator or mucolytic medication directly to the airway circuit.
How It WorksThe device alternates cycles of CPEP and CHFO with synchronized aerosol delivery to deliver a standard ten-minute OLE therapy session designed to support airway clearance and lung expansion.
Customizable Therapy Settings- Wide therapeutic pressure range to treat a broad spectrum of patient sizes and conditions.
- Programmable therapy presets for standardization across patient groups; supports naming and storing up to 10 custom protocols.
- Preset protocols and one-button operation for frequent clinical workflows.
- Enhanced mobility for use throughout the facility via compact design, ergonomic stand and battery operation.
Intuitive Interface and Connectivity- Touchscreen displays therapy parameters and enables precise adjustment of pressures and programs.
- Preset and custom protocols support continuity of care; up to 10 custom therapy courses can be programmed and named.
- Standard HL7 interface for export of therapy session data to EHR; session summary available at completion.
Designed for Precision and Patient Delivery- Supports multiple delivery modes including tracheostomy, mask, mouthpiece and in-line with a ventilator.
- Patient circuit features an ergonomic handle, multiple interfaces and integrated nebulizer delivery.
- Dual power source with battery operation and built-in compressor; full battery supports at least six OLE sessions and charges in approximately 8 hours.
- Smart-Filter technology with integrated RFID tag enables tracking of single‑patient-use circuits for up to 90 treatments.
Clinical Outcomes / EvidenceClinical evaluations of OLE therapy delivered with the Volara System have reported reductions in select postoperative pulmonary complications and improvements in utilization metrics. Selected reported outcomes include:
- 1.6 days reduction in hospital length of stay
- 68% reduction in average total time on mechanical ventilation
- 2 days reduction in ICU length of stay
- 31% overall relative reduction in postoperative pulmonary complications (PPCs)
