Description

Overview
CentroVena One™ is an all‑in‑one central venous catheter insertion system that integrates the guidewire, needle, syringe and catheter to simplify the procedure and reduce steps and handling.

Introduction
The BD CentroVena One™ Insertion System combines components required for central venous access into a single, closed insertion pathway. By integrating a pre‑loaded kink‑resistant guidewire, needle, syringe and pre‑loaded catheter with a self‑dilating tip, the system is designed to streamline bedside insertion and reduce procedural complexity.

Key benefits
  • Designed to reduce the risk of guidewire embolism through a permanently attached drape clip on the guidewire.
  • Approximately 50% reduction in average insertion time in a head‑to‑head simulation study compared with a traditional central venous catheter procedure.
  • No guidewire kinking observed in referenced simulation testing.

Features
  • Integrated all‑in‑one system: guidewire, needle, syringe and catheter included.
  • Pre‑loaded, kink‑resistant guidewire with permanently attached drape clip to help prevent embolism.
  • Pre‑loaded catheter with a self‑dilating tip that eliminates a separate dilation step.
  • Closed insertion pathway to help reduce clinician blood exposure, patient blood loss and the risk of air embolism.
  • Catheter design: all lumens are power‑injectable; pinch clamps provided.
  • Passive needle‑tip safety mechanism.
  • Integrated drape clip keeps the sterile field organized and supports guidewire control.

Kits and contents
Max Barrier Kits contain all components for catheter insertion, dressing and securement. Components are arranged in sequential order of use to support bedside procedure flow and minimize movement away from the patient.

Performance claims and context
  • Re‑engineers the central line procedure to reduce procedural complexity.
  • 30% fewer procedural steps versus the traditional Seldinger technique.
  • 50% reduction in maximum procedure time in a head‑to‑head simulation study (N = 49); simulation results may not reflect clinical outcomes in practice.
  • No guidewire kinking observed in the referenced simulation study.

Clinical alignment
All‑inclusive Max Barrier Kits are presented to help align with practice recommendations for prevention of central line‑associated bloodstream infections (CLABSI) referenced by professional organizations (SHEA, IDSA, APIC) in acute care settings.
