Description

Overview
PL 40 is a benchtop vaporized hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sterilizer with a chamber volume of approximately 52 litres. Designed for terminal sterilization of delicate, moist and heat-sensitive medical devices, it supports surgical instruments, robotic and microsurgery systems and is compatible with a wide range of materials. It sterilizes lumened instruments up to 2200 mm in length and down to 0.5 mm minimum diameter.

Technology and Operation
Vaporized H2O2 sterilization uses the single-use SteelcoPro PL sterilant cartridge and operates at low pressure and approximately 50–55°C in four separate process steps to preserve instruments and reduce energy use. The unit features a PLC digital microprocessor and a 7" color touch-screen HMI and is plug & play for fast installation.

Applications
Terminal sterilization of delicate, moist and heat-sensitive devices including flexible endoscopes, rigid and semi-rigid instruments, lumened instruments, and robotic/microsurgery tools.

Pre-programmed Cycles
  • Fast — for non-lumened instruments with or without articulations
  • Flex — for flexible endoscopes
  • Standard — for mixed loads: flexible, rigid and semi-rigid, lumened and non-lumened
  • Intensive — for mixed loads with more challenging dimensions
  • Superfast — ultra-fast cycle for reduced loads (available on request)

Chemicals and Cartridge System
The system uses a single-use sterilant cartridge providing two cycles. The cartridge includes an RFID identifier with batch, expiry date and H2O2 quantity to prevent reuse or incorrect refilling. Front-loading ergonomic design with poka-yoke features reduces operator errors.

Process Quality and Safety
Includes dedicated humidity control, redundant chamber pressure and temperature sensors for real-time monitoring, and an optional external plasma generator. Hydrogen peroxide emissions are reduced through a triple safety system, achieving emission levels substantially below the most restrictive guidelines.

Control System and Traceability
Large 7" touch-screen with intuitive interface and integrated thermal printer for cycle records. Network connectivity supports integration with digital traceability solutions. Optional barcode or RFID scanner available for operator and load identification.

Optional Configurations
Available as manual hinged-door benchtop unit or with an optional lockable wheeled stand cabinet for free-standing installation and storage.

Features (summary)
  • Low total H2O2 dose to protect instruments and extend service life
  • Penetration into hollow instruments: lumens down to Ø 0.5 mm and up to 2200 mm length (single/double/triple channels)
  • Single-use RFID cartridge (two cycles) with poka-yoke loading
  • Four-step process at approx. 50–55°C for balanced efficacy
  • Triple safety system to minimize H2O2 emissions and protect operators/environment
  • Optional RFID or barcode recognition for load/operator traceability

Certifications
Designed to comply with EN ISO 14937, EN ISO 14971, EN 61010-1/2-040, EN IEC 61326-1, EN 62366-1 and EN 62304. Classified under legacy CE0051 (Directive 93/42/EEC, MDD).
