Rapid LH Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the semi-quantitative detection of human luteinizing hormone (LH) in women’s urine to predict the time of ovulation. The test is intended for healthcare professional and home use.
LH is a hormone produced by your pituitary gland. Your body always makes a small amount of LH, but just before you ovulate, you make much more LH. Too much or too little LH can cause a variety of problems, including infertility, menstrual difficulties in women, low sex drive in men, and early or delayed puberty in children. Measuring LH after receiving this hormone can tell your doctor if you have a problem with the pituitary gland or with another part of your body. Some drugs can cause LH to increase, such as anticonvulsants, clomiphene, naloxone, and ketoconazole, while others cause LH to decrease, such as digoxin, oral contraceptives, and hormone treatments.
