Rapid H. Pylori Antibody Test is a rapid immune-chromatographic assay for the detection of antibodies to H. pylori in human serum or plasma. The assay is to provide an aid in diagnosis of H. pylori infection. The H. Pylori Antibody Test may be used to help determine the cause of ulcers in the stomach or duodenum or to assess the cause of chronic gastritis. Many ulcers are actually caused by an infection. Your doctor will explain the test and why you need it. An H. pylori antibody test is also available which looks for a different type of antibody which may not develop in all people. This can help identify infection in people who only develop IgG antibodies in very low levels. Blood tests for H. pylori can only tell if your body has H. pylori antibodies. It cannot tell if you have a current infection or how long you have had it.
