Description

Product Overview
Phenolic laminate lab table tops by Polybett are multi-layer panels engineered for laboratory and medical work surfaces where chemical resistance, surface durability and easy maintenance are required.

Key Product Brief
Suitable for chemical, biological and pharmaceutical laboratories, hospital examination rooms, dialysis centers, school labs and testing facilities. Designed to resist acids, alkalis and common organic solvents while providing wear and impact resistance and a textured, easy-to-clean finish.

Product Information
Product names: Chemical Lab Table Top / Phenolic Laminate Lab Table Top / Chemical-Resistant Laboratory Countertop
Available sizes: 1220×1830, 1220×2440, 1220×3660, 1300×2800, 1300×3050, 1530×1830, 1530×3050, 1530×3660, 1830×1830, 1830×2440, 1830×3660, 1830×4270 mm
Common colors: Gray, White, Green, Black and others
Common thicknesses: 12.7 mm, 15 mm, 16 mm
Surface finish: Textured chemical-resistant film

Material & Composition
The panel is manufactured from phenolic-impregnated kraft paper with a melamine decorative layer and an outer chemical-resistant film.

Layer composition
  • Layer 1: Chemical-resistant film
  • Layer 2: Decorative paper impregnated with melamine resin
  • Layer 3: Multiple layers of kraft paper impregnated with phenolic resin (core)

Features
  • Chemical resistance: resistant to acids, alkalis and many organic solvents suitable for laboratory tasks
  • Surface durability: wear-resistant and impact-resistant for high-use countertops
  • Heat and burn performance: heat-resistant and cigarette-burn resistant surface
  • Hygiene and cleaning: textured finish enables straightforward cleaning and maintenance

Storage Condition
Acclimatize laminate and substrate in the same environment for 48 hours before fabrication. Recommended: approx. 24°C and 45%–55% RH. Store sheets flat on a plate slightly larger than the boards, protect with a cover plate and avoid very wet or hot environments. Place sheets at least 72 hours before processing or installation to reach equilibrium with the environment.

Maintenance Instructions
  • Avoid prolonged contact (>5 hours) with concentrated sulfuric or nitric acid (>96%).
  • Do not apply unconventional reagents directly or expose the surface to open flame, molten metal or objects above 180°C.
  • After experiments, wipe surfaces to remove acid, alkali or solvent residues promptly.
  • Do not use strongly acidic, alkaline or corrosive cleaning agents; for stubborn stains, wash with hypochlorite and rinse thoroughly—avoid prolonged hypochlorite contact to prevent discoloration.

Handling
Lift phenolic laminate vertically to avoid scratching. Use vacuum lifting equipment where possible during handling, processing and installation.

Production Process
  • Step 1: Incoming inspection of raw materials (resin powder, mineral powder)
  • Step 2: Impregnation with melamine and phenolic resins
  • Step 3: Assembly of paper layers
  • Step 4: Hot-pressing of the core
  • Step 5: Cutting to size
  • Step 6: Quality inspection and packaging

Product Advantages
  • Dense, non-permeable surface that prevents moisture and dust ingress into the core
  • Resistance to cigarette burns and elevated temperatures for laboratory use
  • Low-maintenance surface with scratch, impact and abrasion resistance for long service life

Applications
Used for laboratory countertops, hospital and medical work surfaces, dialysis centers, nurses’ stations, pathology work rooms, school and research labs, photography darkrooms and product testing facilities.
