Description

chronOS® Bone Graft Substitute chronOS® Bone Graft Substitute (BGS) is a synthetic β-tricalcium phosphate bone void filler which is radiopaque, resorbable and osteoconductive. chronOS® Bone Graft Substitute contains calcium and phosphorus, two of the main mineral constituents of bone. During the healing process, it is resorbed and replaced by bone between 6 – 18 months. Indication Statement For product details such as indications, contraindications, warnings and precautions please consult the IFU. chronOS Bone Void Filler implants are widely used as synthetic, resorbable and osteoconductive bone graft substitutes for indications in trauma, spine and craniomaxillofacial surgery. chronOS Bone Void Filler is a highly porous matrix made of pure ß-tricalcium phosphate. The structural and chemical properties as well as its compressive strength are similar to that of cancellous bone. Due to its composition, chronOS Bone Void Filler is initially radio-opaque. To fi t precisely into bony defects, chronOS Bone Void Filler is available as granules of different sizes (Fig. 1) and as pre-shaped cylinders, blocks and wedges in a pouch as chronOS Vivify Preforms Bone Void Filler (Fig. 2). Furthermore, cages pre-fi lled with chronOS Bone Void Filler are available as vertebral interbody fusion implants. Having a synthetic origin, chronOS Bone Void Filler offers the advantage of uniform quality and unlimited availability. It avoids donor site morbidity and shortens the duration of the overall surgery Therefore, chronOS Bone Void Filler is a good alternative to autologous bone
