Description

Enteroviruses are a genus of positive-sense single-stranded RNA viruses associated with several human diseases (Poliomyelitis, Bornholm disease, Pericarditis, Acute hemorrhagic conjunctivitis...). Historically the most significant has been the poliovirus. Enteroviruses are the most common cause of aseptic meningitis and can cause serious disease especially in newborns. Serologic studies have distinguished 71 human enterovirus serotypes on the basis of an antibody neutralization test. Enteroviruses can be found in the respiratory secretions (saliva, sputum, nasal mucus) and stool of an infected person. O-DiaENTTM is a trusted and easy-to-use molecular diagnostic CE-IVD kit designed to qualitatively detect enteroviruses in biological samples (tissue, vesicular fluid, CSF, swabs, stool, plasma, or whole blood) collected from patients with suspected enterovirus infections using real-time PCR.
