Overview The NeuroSmart High Speed Motor System is engineered for cranial and spine surgery, providing automatic attachment detection, mode automation and safety functions to prevent unintended high-speed starts and to protect patient and instruments.
Key Features - Automatic handpiece detection: the control unit recognizes Trepan Adapter, Perforator or high-speed handpieces and selects the appropriate mode.
- Automated mode setup: connecting/disconnecting attachments triggers immediate mode and display adjustments to ensure correct operating parameters.
- One-Click connection: snap-in mounting for handpieces, nosepieces and adapters for fast assembly and locking.
- Touch-screen front panel: single-piece glass front for intuitive menu navigation, hygienic cleaning and selectable light/dark display.
- Integrated irrigation pump: built-in pump with variable flow and 5-step adjustment; pump control available via control unit and footswitch button.
- Footswitch: combined pedal with start/stop and pump control button; IP X7 rated for cleaning and disinfection.
- Robust motor drive: 120 W motor delivering full range drive for EMD attachments; integrated bend relief to protect cable connections.
Modes and Application Highlights - High Speed Mode — for cranial procedures and general high-speed use (10,000–80,000 RPM; max 80,000 RPM).
- Endoscopic Spine Mode — for minimally invasive spine handpieces; speed limited and adjustable within 3,000–20,000 RPM; irrigation disabled.
- Slim Attachment Mode — for slim attachments with preset limits (10,000–40,000 RPM); irrigation disabled.
- Automatic Trepan/Perforator handling — control unit selects optimal perforation speeds and prevents accidental high-speed start when Trepan Adapter or Perforator is connected.
Handpieces and Attachments - Craniotome handpieces: stainless steel, ergonomic pen-grip, quick duraguard release; available in fixed and rotary duraguard options; blades and duraguards size-marked.
- Standard handpieces: compatible with burrs Ø 2.3 mm; One-Click mounting and rotary knob locking; motor start inhibited until knob locked.
- Angled and slim handpieces: angled geometries and slim nosepieces compatible with burrs Ø 1.0 mm for precise access and balanced handling in long procedures.
- Trepan Adapter: full stainless finish, ergonomic handle, One-Click mounting and perforator lock/release knob; accepts Hudson end connection; suitable for skull thicknesses 3.0 mm and 1.5 mm.
Usage & Benefits - Inventory efficiency: single 120 W motor drives full attachment range, reducing device count and stock complexity.
- Safety features: automatic detection, mode selection and speed-limiting prevent inappropriate starts and enhance patient protection.
- Usability: intuitive touch-screen, selectable display modes, easy-clean surfaces and ergonomic handpieces for extended procedures.
