Description

The PainBlockerTM is a cryoneuroablation system that uses nitrous oxide (N2O) or carbon dioxide (CO2) in conjunction with the Joule-Thomson effect to create subzero temperatures that ablate sensory nerves. The extent of ablation of the targeted nerve is determined by the proximity of the probe and the freezing time (1-3 minutes.) The temperatures achieved by this process are normally -55 °C using CO2 and -70 °C using N2O.
