The test detects the pathogens in a few minutes. Furthermore the Fassisi ParCo can be used directly on-site and it can be stored between 2 and 30 degrees. Leishmaniasis is a chronic, incurable infectious disease transmitted by the sand mosquito. Dogs from the Mediterranean region that have been imported should be tested for leishmaniasis in particular, because the sand mosquito lives in warm regions. But also in Germany, the sand mosquito has natural populations in selected regions such as Kaiserslautern and Saarbrücken. The sandmosquito is also expected to spread further north due to the global warming for example. Leishmaniasis is incurable but treatable. While an untreated animal with disease-specific symptoms usually dies within six to twelve months, a treated animal can live a nearly symptom-free life.
