With the new bipolar resectoscope, Gimmi® created an outstanding instrument for resections in urology and gynaecology. The combination of new electrodes and new instrument design offers a safe, efficient and economic solution for transurethral resection and intra-uterine surgery. The resection under irrigating fluids requires high power, so that a constant cutting quality can be ensured. With the bipolar procedure, the current flow is concentrated on the operating field only and not - like with the monopolar method - passed from the surgical field through surrounding tissue and the body of the patient back to the HF surgical unit via a neutral electrode. In bipolar, the use of NaCI irrigation solution as a medium prevents the danger of TUR Syndrom.
SAFE The design of the electrode concentrates the current at the distal point, reduces the irritation of the obturator nerve and increases operating safety in this field. The new developed handle together with the special design electrodes insure safe current path. Furthermore, thermal tissue damage caused by leakage and/or damaged insulation is prevented, as the current does not flow along the the external sheath in contact with the tissue.
EFFICIENT The short current path between both electrodes insures a faster resection and provides excellent cutting and coagulation performance. The special design of the distal electrode provides also a better visual orientation.
ECONOMIC Reusable electrodes give an enormous cost advantage over disposable solution and will convince the most strict purchaser.
