Description

The ESOP (ATLAS) design was born in 1985 of Dr Alain Dambreville’s observations. The ESOP (ATLAS) is a cementless elastic cup that has been in clinical use for more than 35 years. The ESOP (ATLAS) elastic cup product line has one metal-back model, with 4 spikes and 8 holes, in a range of diameters from 46 mm to 64 mm (2-mm increments). The ESOP (ATLAS) metal-back is complemented by a comprehensive range of highly cross-linked polyethylene (TRIANON) or conventional polyethylene liners in various inner diameters (28, 32, 36 mm) and various shapes (flat rim and posterior wall). Features and materials The ESOP (ATLAS) metal-back is manufactured from titanium alloy (TA6V4 ELI) in a uniform 2.5-mm thickness and are hydroxyapatite-coated. The ESOP (ATLAS) IIIP has 4 spikes that penetrate the patient’s bone and has 3 screw holes. The standard inserts are made of UHMWPE. The highly cross-linked polyethylene liners, called TRIANON are available in – a 28-mm diameter for the 46 to 64 mm cup sizes – a 32-mm diameter for the 50 mm to 64 mm cup sizes – a 36-mm diameter for the 54 mm to 64 mm cup sizes. Instrumentation The ESOP (ATLAS) instrumentation is the same one used with other FH ORTHO acetabular cups. This instrumentation can be used with all the standard surgical approaches, including minimally invasive ones. It is supplemented by optional retractor trays.
