The Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation or tDCS is a non-invasive and painless technique for brain neuromodulation using a low intensity galvanic current directly on the scalp in order to stimulate certain specific brain areas.
There are more than 8,000 scientific papers published with an average of more than two papers published daily during the last three years.
This therapy is applied by placing different electrodes on the scalp depending on the cortical areas we want to stimulate according to the described pathology and the published protocols, so we can apply a low intensity galvanic current through such electrodes. Our device allows the professional to select the electrode size, limiting the maximum intensity depending on the selected electrode size to always apply a safe intensity level for the patient and avoid any burning. We have two different electrode sizes available: 35cm2, which is the size with which more research has been conducted; and 5cm2, for the application of the HDtDCS approach, using five electrodes instead of two, focusing more the therapy.
In essence, the application of the tDCS technique produces a neuromodulator effect of the neuron excitability and enhances the brain neuroplasticity on the stimulated brain area, and thus the reorganization of the neuronal connections. It is important to carry out several treatment sessions constantly to guarantee the results of the therapy.
