Key Features
  • LED technology
  • Memory function
  • Workflow efficiency

Separate LED Red Reflex Illumination
The SOM4Opht employs two independent LED light sources: coaxial field illumination for even lighting of the surgical area and a dedicated red reflex illumination to visualise lens opacities and tissue structures. Both LED systems are long-lasting, energy-efficient and maintain a constant colour temperature.

Two Light Sources, Independent Control
Both light sources can be switched on/off separately and have individually adjustable brightness using the touchpad. This allows adaptation to surgical phases that require varying amounts of red reflex vs. field illumination.

Comprehensive Filter System
Three selectable swivel-in filters can be integrated into the beam path: Green filter (red-free) to enhance vascular contrast, Orange filter (blue-blocking) to reduce blue light exposure, and Blue filter to assist fluorescence diagnostics.

LED Advantages
No warm-up time, no bulb changes during procedures, no colour shifts over lifespan. LED provides consistent lighting for thousands of operating hours.

Intelligent Touchpad with Memory Function
The touchpad stores complete setting profiles (zoom position, focus setting, XY coordinates, light intensity for both LEDs) and recalls them via five memory slots (M1–M5). Separate speed controls for focus, zoom, and XY movement allow precise or rapid positioning. A centre button resets XY coupling to the middle position. The layout places brightness controls for the LED sources at the top, speed control in the middle and memory buttons at the bottom for intuitive operation.

Benefits / Clinical Advantages
  • Designed for modern cataract surgery with optimised illumination and workflow support
  • Five memory slots for individual surgeon workflows — quick switching between surgeons or procedures
  • Motorised zoom (1:6) with apochromatic correction for high-contrast, true-to-colour images without colour fringes
  • Extended motorised XY coupling (62 x 62 mm) for greater positioning range
  • Binocular swivel tube 0–210° for ergonomic posture and flexible working angles
