Description

Double Pelvic Osteotomy (DPO) is performed on puppies with femoral head subluxation due to increased dorsal acetabular rim slope and/or excessive joint laxity. The purpose of DPO is the arrest the development of Hip Dysplasia (HD) in the early stage of the disease. The ALPS DPO is based on ALPS Technology in an integral part of the ALPS® Product Range. Pre-contoured plate to best match the DPO construct and bases on the principles of ALPS® Technology, which aim to minimize the contact-area of the plates with the periosteum and minimize vascular damage Immediate and safe fixation. Dedicated compression hole and locking screws fixation for immediate stability of the implant. The screw direction is fixed to maximize construct stability and avoid articular surfaces and the osteotomy. Reduced risk of infection. Integrates the technological features and biological benefits of the ALPS® Technology into the DPO technique. Superior biocompatibility. Titanium only reduce the risk of infection. The ALPS® DPO plate was developed in close collaboration with Dr. Aldo Vezzoni and went through several iterations to ensure safety and effectiveness of the implant. DPO modifies the direction of the forces inside the joint, redirecting the femoral head inside the acetabulum. Pelvis geometry and width are not affected and dedicated DPO implants increase the stability of the construct.
