cementless acetabular prosthesis
Based on the Bousquet concept, the 2M cup is characterized by two articulating surfaces: a metal or ceramic femoral head articulating in a polyethylene liner, while the liner itself articulates in the metallic acetabular cup.
The cup design imitates the anatomy of the acetabulum with a caudal chamfer and a variable degree of cranial coverage depending on size and is optimized to ensure the necessary implant coverage aiming to reduce the risk of dislocation and improve stability especially in elderly patients. Primary fixation is achieved by press-fit and improved by several equatorial retentive grooves designed to offer the best stability while preserving the acetabular morphology.
The cup is manufactured in CoCrMo alloy featuring a double coating of Porous Titanium and Hydroxyapatite to ensure excellent primary and secondary fixation and the inner surface is mirror-polished to minimize wear.
Nine external diameters are available, ranging from 46 to 62 mm with 2 mm increment in combination with the use of large diameters mobile liners (42 to 54 mm) give the joint considerable wide range of motion and reduce the risk of impingement.
