Made from transparent, flexible Medical Grade PVC, the Volumec measured-volume burette infusion set (EM6800) is available in 110 ml and 150 ml capacities. It includes a vented spike for controlled fluid entry, a microdrip chamber for precise infusion rates and 150 cm kink-resistant tubing with latex bulb and luer slip connector. A floating auto shut-off valve prevents air embolism; a flashball-type injection site allows additional medication administration.

Instruction for Use (IFU)

• Tear open the pouch and remove the burette-type infusion set.
• Close all clamps and controllers.
• If using a rigid I.V. container, open the spike’s air vent cap.
• Remove spike protector and insert the spike firmly into the infusion container.
• Suspend the infusion container with attached set. Open the upper clamp and allow approx. 30 ml solution to flow into the graduated chamber; do not puncture the air vent. Close the upper clamp.
• Squeeze and release the drip chamber until it is about one third full.
• Remove luer cap. Slightly open the flow regulator to clear air from the tubing, then close the regulator.
• Open the upper clamp and allow solution to flow into the graduated chamber until the desired volume is obtained. Avoid wetting any filters excessively. Close the upper clamp.
• Perform venous puncture and connect to patient.
• Gradually open the flow regulator, adjust drop rate and control infusion flow. The floating valve will shut off flow when the graduated chamber is empty to prevent air embolism.
• To continue infusion, close the flow regulator, open the upper clamp to refill the chamber to the required level, close the clamp, gently squeeze the drip chamber to float the shut-off valve, then restart infusion as described.
