Instruction for Use (IFU)

• Open the Foley catheter by removing it from the peel-open pouch.
• Place a sterile underpad beneath the patient.
• Place a sterile drape over the perineal area.
• Don sterile gloves and attach a sterile syringe filled with sterile water to the balloon inflation port.
• Open lubricant packet and apply lubricant onto the packing tray.
• Remove the catheter cover.
• With the sterile dominant hand, dip the catheter tip into the lubricant.
• Using the non-dominant hand, separate the labia or hold the penis at a 60–90° angle and retract the foreskin if applicable.
• Clean the area with antiseptic swabs: for the labia, wipe left, right, then center with a new swab for each pass.
• For the penis, clean the glans in a circular motion from the inside outward, using a new swab for each of three passes.
• Slowly insert the catheter into the urethra; instruct the patient to breathe normally and stop if resistance is felt.
• Advance until urine flows into the catheter tubing.
• Inflate the balloon using the sterile water syringe.
• Release the non-dominant hand and adjust catheter position as required.
• Secure the catheter to the patient’s thigh with an appropriate fixation device.
• Place the urine collection bag below the patient’s bladder level.
