Description

Overview
The moorLAB-LDF is a laser Doppler blood flow and tissue temperature monitor designed for laboratory research and educational life-science applications. It uses digital signal processing (DSP) to deliver reproducible flux and concentration measurements and supports single- and dual-channel configurations for flexible experimental setups.

Key benefits
  • Selectable single- or dual-channel operation for focused or comparative measurements
  • Compact multi-channel stacking and USB connectivity for expanded setups
  • High-contrast LCD for clear on-site data review
  • Seamless integration with moorLAB-PC software for acquisition, storage and analysis

Intended use
For simultaneous measurement of microcirculatory blood flow (flux/concentration) and tissue temperature in research and educational settings. Not intended as a clinical medical device for diagnostic or therapeutic use on human patients.

Processing & performance
Advanced flux and concentration signal processing with software-selectable low-pass filter settings. Bandwidth supports 20 Hz–22 kHz signal processing; sampling rate 40 Hz for all parameters. Continuous operation mode with analogue BNC outputs for external recording.

Probes and application types
  • Skin probes: twin- or multi-fibre designs; multi-fibre options provide averaged signals over larger tissue areas; typically fixed with holders or adhesive discs; combined Doppler and temperature probes available.
  • Needle probes: for surface, intratissue or single-vessel measurements; suitable for restricted access tissues and micromanipulation; finer-gauge probes (VP4, VP4s) for deeper insertion.
  • Low-profile probes: designed for limited access or to minimise pressure under dressings (examples: titanium disc, near-flat silicon probes).
  • Single-fibre systems: master probe plus single-fibre tips for minimally invasive animal studies; tips can be trimmed or replaced.
  • Example probe codes: LP1, LP1/7, LP1T, LP2, LP7A, LP12, LP14-CBF, LP4s, LP10M100ST, etc.

Cleaning and maintenance
Main unit: wipe with a cloth moistened with isopropanol or isopropanol/water mixture. Probes and connectors: wipe with isopropanol/isopropanol-water. Probe head and sleeving (excluding connector): washable under running water, clean with neutral or enzymatic detergent, or immerse in Cidex OPA up to 5 minutes (rinse after); maximum 5 immersion cycles. Probes are not suitable for sterilisation.

Typical applications & references
  • Vascular and microcirculation research
  • Neurological and cerebral blood-flow models (eg. MCAO)
  • Dermal perfusion, flap monitoring, diabetic and inflammation studies
  • Muscle and exercise physiology and preclinical research

Notes
Manufacturer may update specifications without notice. Probe selection and measurement parameters must be matched to the experimental protocol and tissue under study.
