OverviewThe NEXOPART CPA 2-1 is a dynamic image analysis system for rapid and precise determination of particle size and particle shape of dry, non-agglomerating materials. It provides significantly higher sample throughput and additional measurement parameters compared with traditional sieve methods.
Benefits- Fast results: typically within 2–3 minutes
- More detailed and numerous product data compared with sieve analysis
- Targeted evaluation using NEXOPART CpaServ software
- Wide set of parameters and immediate digital availability of measurement data
- Can also be used as a counting device
- 100% measurement of each individual particle
Applications / suitable materialsOptimized for dry, free-flowing, non-agglomerating bulk solids: fertilizers, blasting media, sand, coal, foodstuffs, pharmaceuticals, plastics, seeds, ceramics, glass, etc.
Principle and technologyThe CPA 2-1 uses computer-based digital optical image processing: the sample is automatically dosed via a feed trough. Inside the measurement channel, an LED light line and a digital line-scan camera in backlighting produce high-resolution images. The line-scan principle prevents clipped images and particle loss; each particle receives an individual ID and measured values. With a GigE camera the system can also be operated from a notebook, increasing mobility and flexibility.
Peripherals & options- Autosampler AS 6 or AS 12 for automated sample feeding (e.g., overnight operation)
- Dispersion unit for measurement of very fine materials
- NEXOPART CpaServ evaluation software for control, setup and analysis of the instruments
Comparison with sieve analysisTraditional sieve analysis requires about 15–30 minutes per sample (including weighing, loading, analysis, cleaning); dynamic image analysis provides comparable or better information in typically 2–3 minutes.
Practical benefitsSuitable for incoming inspection, production control and process monitoring; reduces lab workload, noise and repetitive tasks while increasing sample throughput and reproducibility.
