Two types of lasers are used. A blue laser (488 nm) excites stained blood cells, and fluorescence is detected. Our unique algorithm identifies reticulocytes. The red laser is used to measure the 5-part differential and identify the size and granularity of individual blood cells based on scattered light. The sheath flow in the measurement path aligns the blood cells in a straight line for accurate test results.

The sheath flow aligns the blood cells in a straight line, while the vortex flow pushes the cells outward, reducing the "re-entry" of blood cells that have passed through the detection aperture.
