Myoglobin is a protein produced when the heart or skeletal muscle is damaged. The molecular weight is smaller than that of enzymes such as CK, so it is released into the blood before CK-MB when heart pain occurs, and its level is clinically significant after 3-6 hours. It can be used as a sensitive indicator for acute myocardial infarction (AMI) as it reaches the level of having. However, since myoglobin can be produced not only in heart damage but also in skeletal muscle loss, it is generally used with markers such as troponin I (TnI) and CK-MB when a myocardial infarction is suspected.
