Description

Product description

Description
AluBurn I.V. is a catheter and cannula fixation dressing composed of a spun-laced nonwoven polyester substrate coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive. The dressing incorporates a central aluminized AluBurn element with a U-shaped slit to permit secure and easy fixation of catheters, cannulas and tracheostomy tubes.

Features
  • Aluminized polyethylene net: serves as a non-adherent layer that prevents adherence to new tissue while remaining permeable to exudate to reduce the risk of maceration.
  • Hydrophilic absorbent fleece to manage moderate exudate.
  • Soft, conformable construction for improved patient comfort and good contact on curved surfaces.
  • Breathable: permeable to air and water vapour to support the local skin environment.

Indications
– Designed for fixation of peripheral and central venous catheters, cannulas and tracheostomy tubes.

Contraindications
There are no absolute contraindications, but do not use in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component of the dressing.

Precautions
– Single use only; reuse may cause infection or cross-contamination.
– Not recommended for heavily exuding wounds due to risk of maceration.
– Apply only to clean, dry skin to ensure adhesive performance.
– Dispose of as contaminated clinical waste according to local regulations.

How to use
1. Open the sterile pouch using aseptic technique. For AluBurn I.V. Film variants, hold the dressing at both sides of the wave cut and stretch the backing paper slightly to loosen the wave cut.
2. Remove the release flaps to expose the adhesive surface.
3. Position the dressing centrally over the insertion site and align the U-shaped slit around the catheter or cannula. Remove any lower release flaps if present.
4. For film variants, slowly peel off the upper backing while smoothing the transparent film edges to avoid creasing.
