Description

Short description
Paraffin gauze dressing with Chlorhexidine acetate. Pharmatull® Plus is a paraffin gauze dressing containing chlorhexidine digluconate B.P. 0.5% W/W which has antimicrobial effect against a broad range of gram positive and gram negative bacteria.

Features
  • Individually packed in peelable aluminum pouches.
  • Sterilized by gamma irradiation.
  • Made of apertured leno cotton gauze that allows wound exudates to pass through.
  • Impregnated with paraffin jelly containing Chlorhexidine digluconate B.P. 0.5% W/W to form a separate layer between wound and gauze, preventing sticking to the wound.
  • Protects newly formed tissue and minimizes patient pain during dressing changes.
  • Leno-weave gauze allows exudates to pass through to a secondary dressing so exudates do not dry on the wound bed.
  • Can be cut to different sizes.

Indications
  • Used as a primary wound contact layer in the treatment of burns, ulcers, skin grafts and a variety of traumatic injuries.
  • Also used as a transfer medium for skin during grafting.
  • Under medical supervision, can be used to manage infected wounds or wounds at increased risk of infection.

Contraindications
  • Semi-occlusive nature may cause tissue maceration if placed on heavily exuding wounds by preventing free movement of exudates away from the wound surface.
  • If left in position for prolonged periods it can become adherent and cause tissue damage upon removal.
  • Should not be used in patients known to be hypersensitive to chlorhexidine.

How to use
  • 1- Open the pouch.
  • 2- Remove the protector(s).
  • 3- Pick up the product using an antiseptic technique.
  • 4- Place the Pharmatull® Plus at the wound site.
  • 5- Cover with a secondary absorbent dressing.
  • 6- Fix the secondary dressing.
  • 7- Change daily or according to the condition of the wound.
