Overview
Promation was approached by a large Tier 1 medical isotope producer to design and deliver a fully automated, robust packing system for an isotope packing line. The solution is intended to process, package and enable rapid shipment of time-sensitive medical isotopes while reducing operator radiation dose and improving ergonomics.

The Challenge
The global demand for medical isotopes to diagnose and treat disease is growing. With a time-sensitive lifespan, isotopes must be processed, packaged and shipped as quickly as possible. Traditional manual packaging limits throughput, increases operator exposure and creates ergonomic and repetitive-motion injury risks when handling heavy generators.

The Solution
By applying robotic automation combined with vision systems and centralized data management, Promation delivered a process that is fast, robust and reliable. Key elements of the solution include:
