SILK is non-absorbable sterile surgical suture composed of an organic protein called fibroin. This protein is derived from the domestic species Bombyx Mori. Thread is multifilament, braided or twisted. Thickness of the tread between 9/0 and 5 USP. It is coated with silicone, bee wax or natural. Thanks to the coating it penetrates tissue surface easily. It has good tensile strength. Thread is available undyed or dyed black.
INDICATIONS AND USE
SILK is nonabsorbable suture, but it take place gradual loss of all strength over a period of 3 to 6 Months in vivio. Combination of SILK threads and needles are used according to kind and size of the wound, surgical procedures and techniques, experience of surgeon and condition of the patient. Silk is intended for use in general soft tissue approximation and/or ligation. Silk suture is indicated to use in: general surgery, cardiovascular, ophthalmic, and neurological procedures.
