Our technology is simple, highly innovative, effective, low-cost and acceptable from the patient viewpoint, with undoubted advantages over competitors. For the first time in this field, a unisex, minimally invasive endo-urethral magnetic device is proposed, which can be replaced in a simple manner and in an outpatient setting. The device is not visible outside of the body and is able to completely restore the urination control, even in patients suffering of severe stress urinary incontinence forms.
The sphincter is implanted and removed by urologist in outpatient setting under local anesthesia by using traditional tools. The procedure requires between 15-30 minutes. Once the sphincter is placed at the bladder neck, the patient can simply control the urination by approaching for few seconds a small external magnet in perianal area. In addition the sphincter is equipped by an automatic safety system that allows the opening of it above a threshold.
The proposed sphincter benefits from an extremely simple and innovative design, without electronic components on board, being based on a magnetic activation. This will facilitate the certification phases and will maximize the acceptability and usability of the device even by patients with limited psychomotor skills. The device is based on a solution protected by two patents: WO2013144770A2 and WO2019106581
