Overview
The SM 50 is a benchtop cutting mill designed for laboratory and small-scale industrial size reduction. It features a removable push-fit milling chamber and Total Access Concept for fast cleaning, a 1.5 kW drive with variable speed, an integrated cyclone for high sample recovery and tool-free component removal to minimize contamination and downtime.

Cleaning / Operation Modes
  • Surface cleaning: open access door for brushing, vacuuming or compressed air.
  • Intense cleaning: remove rotor, sieves, cyclone and milling chamber (push-fit) for complete external cleaning.
  • Parallel cleaning: use a second grinding set to process samples while cleaning the other set to avoid cross-contamination.


Sample Recovery & Flow Control
Optimized internal geometry and integrated cyclone support up to 100% sample recovery (dependent on material and configuration). The batch-wise hopper feeding acts as a flow-control gate, improving grinding performance and cyclone separation.

Functional Principle
Samples are batch-fed through the EasyInspect hopper and driven into the milling chamber by a plunger. Cutting occurs between rotating blades and stationary double-acting cutting bars; rotor designs (3-disc or parallel-section) combine cutting and shearing. Cyclone transfer minimizes dust release and conveys milled material to the collector.
