Description

Overview
The laboratory knife mill GRINDOMIX GM 300 processes a wide variety of sample materials quickly and reproducibly to homogeneous analytical samples. Its special cutting-knife system and the 5000 ml grinding chamber enable homogenization of large samples in a single run while maintaining reproducible parameter settings and program storage for consistent analytical results. A broad selection of lids and containers allows adaptation to specific application requirements.

For large Food Samples
  • Efficient size reduction of up to 4500 ml feed quantity with a powerful 1.1 kW motor (peak power input >3 kW)
  • Pre- and fine grinding in one device: cutting action in regular mode, impact grinding in reverse mode, pre-grinding in interval mode
  • All sample-contact parts autoclavable
  • Variable speed 500–4000 min-1 (increment 100 min-1)
  • Optional gravity lid for automatic chamber-volume reduction
  • Storage for 10 SOPs
  • Grinding jar available in plastic and stainless steel

Cryogenic Grinding with Dry Ice
Materials that are tough or elastic at room temperature can be homogenized safely and effectively with dry ice. A special cryo lid with a small pressure-relief opening is available. In combination with a stainless-steel container and full-metal knife it enables safe and efficient cold grinding.

Easy and Safe Operation
Operation is comfortable and safe: container and knife are attached without tools. After the set time the motor stops automatically and the container can be removed. The knife remains on the holder during operation and can be removed for cleaning afterwards. Autoclavable grinding tools and quick handling reduce the risk of cross-contamination. The GM 300 features one-button operation with graphic display; all parameters are digitally set and 10 SOPs can be stored.

Gravity Lid – Function
The gravity lid reduces the effective chamber volume and prevents the sample from clinging to the container walls. During grinding the lid rests on the sample; versions with overflow channels return released cell liquid to the container center for improved homogenization.

Accessories & Options
A range of containers, lids and knives makes the GM 300 versatile. Standard plastic containers suit most applications; special accessories are available for specific tasks.
  • Gravity lid made of autoclavable plastic – automatically adjusts chamber volume
  • Gravity lid with overflow channels – suited for high-water-content samples
  • Special lid for dry ice applications – allows possible overpressure to escape
  • Stainless-steel container – for minimum wear with hard samples
  • Knives – four types: stainless steel, serrated stainless steel, full-metal blade & cylinder, titanium‑niobium coated knife for heavy‑metal‑free size reduction; all autoclavable
  • Scraper – facilitates recovery of sticky samples

Typical Sample Materials
Suitable for many applications: candy, cereals, cheese, coated tablets, cocoa nibs, dietary supplements, dried and fresh fruit, feed pellets, fish, frozen products, ham, lettuce, meat, nuts, oil seeds, pharmaceutical products, plant materials, sausages, soap, spices, vegetables, etc.

Functional Principle
The GM 300 uses four sharp blades rotating in the center of the grinding container. Depending on rotation direction, size reduction is performed with the blunt side (preliminary reduction) or the sharp side (fine grinding). Knives are protected by a counterblade against hard particles. The knife is indirectly driven by a motor (1.1 kW continuous, short-term peaks >3 kW) and an electronically maintained preselectable speed ensures reproducible results.
