Product overview384-well PCR plates for PCR and qPCR workflows. Available in transparent and white optical variants. Key features include full skirt design, low-profile well geometry to reduce dead volume, nominal well volume suitable for 40 µl reactions, PCR Performance Tested certification (free from DNases/RNases, DNA and PCR inhibitors) and polypropylene (PP) construction. Supplied 50 pieces per minigrip bag.
Variants- 72.1984.202 — PCR plate, full skirt, 384 wells, transparent, Low Profile, 40 µl, PCR Performance Tested, material: PP, 50 pieces/minigrip bag.
- 72.1985.202 — PCR plate, full skirt, 384 wells, white, Low Profile, 40 µl, PCR Performance Tested, material: PP, optimised for qPCR, for LightCycler® 480, 50 pieces/minigrip bag.
Lids and foilsTransparent lid strips and transparent foils are recommended for qPCR. Frosted lids are available for some strip variants and facilitate labelling for standard PCR applications.
Freezing / cold storage guidanceMultiply® PCR tubes and plates are made of polypropylene and can be frozen in principle. Choose freezing conditions that ensure even freezing throughout samples to avoid stress cracks (avoid strongly insulating holders that freeze unevenly). Because performance depends on sample medium and holders, perform an in-house freezing test under your routine conditions before long-term cold storage.
Autoclaving and PCR Performance Tested productsAlthough polypropylene tolerates autoclaving from a material standpoint, PCR Performance Tested Multiply® PCR plates are manufactured DNase-/RNase-/DNA- and inhibitor-free under cleanroom conditions and intended for immediate PCR use. Autoclaving these certified products is not recommended because it introduces nucleic acid contamination risk that undermines the PCR Performance Tested certification.
When to use white platesWhite Multiply® plates are recommended when increased fluorescence signal and reduced well-to-well crosstalk are required (for example with limited starting material). White wells reflect fluorescence, improving qPCR signal, enabling lower reagent volumes and improving reproducibility and Ct reliability.
Well profile: high-profile vs low-profileLow-profile wells minimise dead volume compared with high-profile wells, enabling reagent savings and reduced reaction volumes.
CompatibilityA compatibility overview is provided listing common thermocyclers and the fit of Sarstedt PCR plates. The white variant is explicitly optimised for LightCycler® 480.
Additional notes / recommendations- Delivered PCR Performance Tested (cleanroom conditions; free of DNases/RNases, DNA and PCR inhibitors).
- For qPCR use transparent lid strips or selected transparent foils; use frosted lids for easier sample labelling in standard PCR.
- Perform in-house freezing tests under your routine conditions before storing samples long-term.
