Description

Background Anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACL reconstruction) is a surgical tissue graft replacement of the anterior cruciate ligament, located in the knee, to restore its function after anterior cruciate ligament injury. The non-functional torn ligament is removed from the knee before the graft is inserted through a bone tunnel . The surgery is performed arthroscopically. In this case an autologous graft is harvested, using the semitendinosus and gracilis tendons. Key objectives • Patient preparation • Patient mark up for a right sided ACL reconstruction • Harvest of gracilis and semitendinous tendons • Preparation of gracilis and semitendinous tendons • Arthroscopy of the knee • Preparation of the femoral tunnel • Preparation of the tibial tunnel • Insertion of new graft
