Background
Knee arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique to inspect the three compartments of the knee; these are the patellofemoral joint and the compartments (medial and lateral). As arthroscopy is a minimally invasive technique it provides faster healing times, reduces the risk of infection, reduces patient post-operative pain, may be performed as a “day case” allowing patients to return home on the same day and shorter recovery times.
Anesthesia
The procedure is commonly carried out under general anaesthesia but may also be performed using local or spinal (regional) analgesia.
