The Pinnacle expiratory flow meter measures the intensity of the airflow through the airways when exhaling as quickly and vigorously as possible. Peak flow readings are highest when patients are well and lowest when the airway is obstructed. From the changes in values registered, patients and physicians can determine lung function, severity of asthma symptoms, and treatment options. Pinnacle incorporates a traffic light, a simple patient self-monitoring tool. The medical staff will establish the different areas for each patient. This equipment has been individually verified and calibrated according to the fit verification and procedure.
