Description

Overview
The Pannoramic-X micro-CT scanner enables ultra-high-resolution 3D imaging of whole-FFPE tissue blocks, macroblocks and large specimens. The system supports virtual slicing, virtual staining and quantitative biomarker analysis using soft X-ray micro-CT and DVREAL 3D Imaging while preserving sample integrity for downstream digital pathology workflows.

Capabilities and workflow
Delivered with CT Control and an integrated software suite (3DView, PatternQuant, NuclearQuant), the Pannoramic-X provides volumetric reconstruction, AI-driven image processing and quantitative biomarker assessment. It integrates with digital pathology environments and supports DICOM, MRXS and RAW formats for storage, analysis and sharing.

Key features
  • 3D digital pathology without physical sectioning, preserving intact tissue architecture for accurate analysis
  • Ultra-high-resolution imaging of large specimens (whole‑FFPE blocks and macroblocks) with scans reported up to 300 mm
  • DVREAL technology enabling virtual slicing and virtual staining for retrospective and multi-plane analysis
  • Improved tumor morphology visualization enabling assessment of lymphovascular invasion, tumor budding and vascular structures
  • AI-powered analysis via PatternQuant and NuclearQuant for automated pattern recognition and quantitative measurements
  • High-throughput scanning with optional sample changer for multiple samples per run
  • Seamless integration into digital pathology workflows with CT Control and 3DView; supports standard data formats
  • Enclosed zero-emission design operable on standard laboratory power

Comparison with traditional histology
  • 3D imaging: Pannoramic-X — full volumetric 3D analysis; Traditional histology — limited to 2D slices
  • Sample integrity: Pannoramic-X — intact, no sectioning required; Traditional — tissue loss and sectioning artifacts
  • Virtual slicing & staining: Pannoramic-X — unlimited retrospective analysis; Traditional — irreversible after sectioning
  • Size limitations: Pannoramic-X — scans up to 300 mm (some modes reference ~150 mm); Traditional — limited to thin sections
  • Tumor & biomarker analysis: Pannoramic-X — 3D visualization and AI-driven quantification; Traditional — manual 2D assessment

Applications and use cases
The Pannoramic-X is intended for cancer research, molecular pathology, digital histopathology, oncology research and pharmaceutical development. It is also suitable for non-destructive high-resolution volumetric imaging in fields such as paleontology, botany, geology and environmental science.
